CHOOSING THE RIGHT SOUND
From a low growl to an attention-grabbing roar, the sound of a muffler is an important part of any custom exhaust build. Thrush performance mufflers come in a variety of sounds to match your vehicle??s style. Looking for something deep and throaty Thrush Rattler and Thrush Welded mufflers both have a deep aggressive sound. Hush Thrush mufflers deliver that perfect hot rod and muscle car sound while Thrush Turbo mufflers have that classic sound that you can only get with a Thrush muffler. For muscle cars, trucks and classic vehicles, a Thrush Glasspack muffler has a powerful, vintage sound.
WHAT DOES A MUFFLER DO
Located under the vehicle, the muffler is a key part of a gas-powered vehicle??s exhaust system. Attached to the tailpipe, the muffler is designed to quiet the sound of the engine as emissions pass out of the vehicle. The muffler can also enhance performance by getting rid of all of the exhaust gases and taking in oxygen faster to generate power.
CHAMBERED DESIGN
Thrush Turbo mufflers have a chambered design. Featuring three tubes with tiny holes, these tubes inside of the muffler reflect sound waves. As the sounds waves bounce around, they cancel each other out to reduce the engine noise before they??re routed out of the vehicle through the exhaust tailpipe.
FLEXIBLE SOLUTION
Offered in a variety of styles and sizes, Thrush mufflers are ideal for performance and vintage applications where the ability to customize the exhaust system is needed. Installation of Thrush mufflers typically require some modifications including welding and/or fabrication. You might need to cut pipe or fabricate new hangers if they don??t match up with the existing hangers. Consider the design when choosing a Thrush muffler.
SIGNS OF A FAILING MUFFLER
Mufflers primarily deteriorate from the inside out due to the acidic moisture produced by the combustion process. Signs that it may be time to replace your muffler include: loud or unusual noises coming from the muffler, a foul odor in the cabin from the muffler not properly filtering exhaust gases, distorted body shell and reduced gas mileage from a failing muffler causing the engine to work harder and use more fuel.
